That time of year again is quickly approaching - I can tell because I’m feverishly trying to complete my holiday gifts to be mailed off in time. That got me to thinking about how much I enjoyed my mom’s plateful of goodies at the holidays, where there was always huge assortment of cookies and treats to enjoy. In trying to do this myself however, I end up with a freezer full of cookies that I eat in the New Year out of guilt - and I just don’t want that this year.

So, I had an idea - though I’m sure it’s not a novel concept and perhaps I read it in some magazine and it’s just been stored in those deep recesses until needed. And since this is our first year with a kitchen where I can do this, I’m going to try it out. I’m going to invite a few of my friends over with their favourite cookie recipes and the ingredients to make maybe two dozen cookies each. Then we’ll all enjoy a fun afternoon of baking and divide the fruits of our labour (that would be 8 batches divided up between 4 people). That way we’ll have an assortment without cookie overload for the holidays! This seems like such a wonderful idea I simply had to share it but since concept and reality can sometimes disagree on an outcome, I’ll have to update you with how it goes.
