I’m wondering today what our forefather’s felt before the onset of the Great Depression.  Were they as aware of a crisis unfolding as we are today?  Are we even fully aware of what’s going on in the world?  Is it really all doom and gloom or a scare tactic?  I don’t really have any of the answers, except that today I am feeling like I want more for my children than what the world around me has become.

I wish those in power had made decision that were for this country instead of for themselves.

I wish our media wasn’t a fear mongering press that values sensationalism over truth.  I want to know exactly what’s going on and what’s going to be done - not information slanted to get the best ratings or make one party or another look more favorable.

I wish the money being used for war could be used to actually make our world a better place.

I wish the world was in better health for our children.

I wish there were some certainty in our futures.

I’m thankful that we have men and women who work hard to defend our country.  I know they’re risking their lives and whether or not we support the war, we need to support them.

I’m thankful for my family, because I know that regardless of what lies in the future we will stick together as a family and come out stronger on the other side.

I’m determined to make this world better for our children.  They deserve the same opportunities we’ve had.  Tough times ahead or not, our children deserve their childhood.

I don’t think anyone can predict what’s going to happen in the days ahead.  We are on the cusp of major changes to the way our society functions though.  I can almost sense the calm before the storm. It’s almost worse being here than knowing what’s going to happen.

I think I would feel better about everything going on if I felt as though the people we entrust with making decisions and those having the power to influence outcomes weren’t only looking out for number one.  I certainly don’t think they’re looking out for my family, or yours.
