Take Part II - Random Acts of Kindness

Well, today is the last official day of Be Kind to Yourself Month.  For me, the month went well, and despite my husband working overtime nearly every night and weekend, we both managed to find time to do things for ourselves.

My last official act was to go to a card making party - a hobby I’ve always wanted to try.  Although I was intimidated because I literally knew noone going (it was my first meeting with a womens’ group I joined), I went anyway and was really glad I did.

Now I’d like to try performing Random Acts of Kindness.  In our society I think we value or privacy and isolation more than reaching out to help someone.  Even reaching out and saying a kind word to a stranger who’s having a bad day.  So who’s in?  I’ll set something up on my forums so we can share more regularly the great things we’re doing!

Cheers everyone.

International Be Kind to Yourself Month

Well, April is almost over, and so too is International Be Kind to Yourself Month.  This month has really taught me a lot - it’s important to get some time to yourself, it’s tough to find that time in a busy schedule (but always worth it) and there’s a whole world to discover out there […]

International Be Kind to Yourself Month

It’s here! It’s here!  Are we all ready for this?  If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you might want to read this.
I for one got an early start yesterday as I accomplished number 8 on my list - going on a shopping expedition on my own.  It’s amazing what you can do […]

New Year’s Resolutions

It’s funny that at the same time of year we are most self-indulgent is the exact same time of year many of us resolve to do it differently next year. I usually don’t fall into the trap of the New Year’s Resolution, unless you count in my youth the resolution to party more. […]

Has Everyone Caught Their Breath Yet?

In just a few days the holidays will be a thing of the past - a bittersweet time.  On the one hand we’ll all get some much needed rest - I often wonder what I’ll do with myself just after the holidays when there’s no more baking, shopping, wrapping, and finishing up gifts.  Then again, […]

Ut Oh - It’s December the What?!?

This morning I woke up in a panic.  I had the dawning realization that tomorrow is Christmas Eve . . . Where has the time gone?  I literally remember the day Santa came to the mall (wasn’t that yesterday?), and tomorrow he’ll be making his epic journey already!
Having Patience is on official hiatus for the […]

This week for Works for Me Wednesday, hosted by none other than Rocks in My Dryer I wanted to share one of our fun holiday traditions.  Stocking stuffers are one of those things I tend to forget about until the last minute, and then realize I need to get it done.  Also, I found that […]

Traveling with Small Children - A Few Tips

My Son and I at the Mall seeing the Big S.C.

Yesterday, my son and I were at the mall doing some Christmas shopping (since we have to mail all our gifts, this is really last minute - the procrastinator that I am…). We saw the mall Santa and at first I got the expected reaction - awe and fear. And then out of […]
