Go Plant Something

I could say “enough said”, but then you wouldn’t know why I think this.  Yes, it’s great for the environment, and makes your space more beautiful.  There’s more!  Planting and being outside not only counts as physical activity, it’s also stress relief and lets you be with your thoughts even with small children around.  In the end, you’re left with something beautiful you can feel proud of.

Cheers and happy planting! :)

Random Bits

Of all the products available to pick up and look at randomly in a pharmacy, why is it that my four year old will pick up personal lubricant and ask “What is this used for mommy?” I mean really.  Isn’t the sleep deprivation enough without having to ask me to think on my feet, too?

Green Review - Chlorox Green Works

A while back - yes, longer ago than I intended - I promised to review some green cleaners as I had a chance to test them out.  Giving up on the good old Soft Scrub with Bleach was tough for me, especially when I had a house full of inlaws (that’s nine people using one […]

The Child Who Just Won’t Listen

My son ignores me - I am white noise in his world and must sound like “Jaden, wah wah wah wah wah wah” (think: the teacher in Peanuts).  Needless to say this is excruciatingly exasperating.  I thought I had tried everything, including easing up on the rules a bit, but to no avail.  Am I […]

On Having More than One Child

When my first son was born, there was always this niggling fear of whether or not a given phase would end.  Would he ever sleep through the night? Would he ever stop crying? Would I ever have a life again?  Of course the answers to all of the above are yes, but with a first […]

Do we Impose Too Many Rules on Our Children?

Yesterday I was reading a news article in the Buffalo news that talked about the decrease in unstructured play time during school (ie recess).  School has become so highly academic - even in grade school - that children are not being given sufficient time to play.  Don’t get me wrong, I understand the importance of […]

Peace and Tranquility

My house is quiet - I can hear myself think and my baby snoring.  The TV is off, there are no children screaming or whining.  Our visit with our inlaws is over, and though fun for the children it was quite stressful for many reasons.
But there is an added tranquility to the day.  Jaden has […]

Get a Job?

Last week I was faced with a very difficult decision - the choice between personal goals and family needs. It’s a tough reality that our life is filled with these kind of choices and sacrifices - not because of our children, but I think because of the society in which we live.  The kind of […]

Gahhhh ARGGHHHHHH!

Everyone in my house is miserable today! Even my three month old.   My four year old has had FIVE meltdowns  - and I sense another on the way.  HELP ME.
I don’t know what the deal is.  I only hope I can end the day with my sanity intact.  I’m going to go dig out […]

A Moment of Clarity

I first started wearing glasses when I was nine. I will never forget the first time I put those glasses on and went outside - it left a lasting impression, even at that young age. All of a sudden with the glasses on my world came into focus in a way it never had […]
